Act Naturally Lyrics

Morrison/Russell

They're gonna put me in the movies
They're gonna make a big star out of me
We'll make a film about a man that's sad and lonely
And all I gotta so is act naturally

Well, I'll bet you I'm gonna be a big star
Might win an Oscar you can never tell
The movies gonna make me a big star
'Cause I can plat the part so well

Well I hope you come and see me in the movies
Then I know that you will plainly see
The biggest fool that ever hit the big time
And all I gotta do is act naturally

We'll make the scene about a man that's sad and lonely
And beggin down upon his bended knee
I'll play the part but I won't need rehearsal
All I gotta do is act naturally

Well, I'll bet you I'm gonna be a big star
Might win an Oscar you can never tell
The movies gonna make me a big star
'Cause I can plat the part so well

Well I hope you come and see me in the movies
Then I know that you will plainly see
The biggest fool that ever hit the big time
And all I gotta do is act naturally

Numerous rattles and hisses in outro, left and right.
* NEW *
John almost misses entirely the last strummed acoustic chord!

Originally recorded by Buck Owens. It was a #1 Country and Western song in 1963.
This was written by Johnny Russell and Voni Morrison. Russell was a prolific Country music songwriter, and Morrison was a member of Owens' backup band.
Ringo sang lead on this. He was a fan of Country music, and this became his showcase song.
The Beatles played this on their third live Ed Sullivan Show appearance. It gave Ringo a chance to sing on the show.
Recorded shortly after the filming of Help!, the lyrics are about appearing in movies.
Ringo went on to act in many films, fulfilling what he sang about on this.
This was the B-side of "Yesterday."
