Scarlett Johansson Biography

In July 2005, Scarlett Johansson starred with Ewan McGregor in the Michael Bay-directed The Island. It was her debut as the female lead in a mainstream action film. She drew some attention when she mentioned that she'd wanted to film the s-- scene in the film topless (she hadn't liked the bra the wardrobe department had given her) but director Michael Bay disapproved, wanting to turn in a PG-13 film. When the movie opened to weak reviews and an even weaker box office, the producers of the film accused Johansson of failing to connect or attract a mainstream audience.

On August 19, 2005, Johansson, trailed in her car by four SUVs carrying paparazzi, tried to escape by driving into the Disneyland parking lot in Anaheim, California. Her Mercedes struck a car containing a woman and her two daughters; nobody was injured in the fender bender, which was photographed by the paparazzi.

Johansson was featured in an advertisement campaign for the Calvin Klein perfume "Moment". She has also modeled for the French luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

Scarlett Johansson's new film Match Point, directed by Woody Allen, opened in December of 2005. Johansson received a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe nomination for her performance, but the award went to Rachel Weisz for her role in The Constant Gardener.

Johansson has claimed on several occasions to be addicted to cheese, saying "My greatest vice is cheese. Nothing else reigns over my life." (The Observer Magazine December 28 2003)

Scarlett Johansson has also revealed that she has no problem with her male co-stars seeing her breasts, as she considers them to be her favourite feature. "I'm proud of my girls. They're my charms, my feminine wiles," she said in a January 2005 interview for Harper's Bazaar.

Scarlett strongly dislikes when journalists ask about her religion; hence, it is unknown. In Marie Claire (UK) - September 2005 she was asked "Are you religious?" Scarlett answered "That's a very personal question. I would rather not answer." Another occurrence witness is this Quote: "She is really not enjoying this line of questioning. I need to shut it down before I ruin the shidduch."

Scarlett Johansson is sometimes erroneously credited as Scarlett Johansen or Scarlett Johanssen.

She is also on the Maniac World S--iest Women in the World List.
