Christina Applegate (born on November 25, 1971) is an American Emmy-winning actress, particularly well-known for playing Kelly Bundy on the sitcom Married... with Children. Christina Applegate has since established a movie career, with major roles in several pictures, such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and recently starred on Broadway in a revival of the musical Sweet Charity.

Biography

 

Christina was born in Hollywood, California. Christina Applegate's father, Robert Applegate, was a record producer. Her mother, Nancy Lee Priddy, was an actress-singer who survived breast cancer. Her parents split up after she was born, and her father remarried.

On October 20, 2001, Christina married longtime boyfriend Jonathon Schaech, in a small mixed-religion Palm Springs ceremony attended by family and close friends. On December 5, 2005 the publicists of Applegate and Schaech confirmed that they had filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Christina quit school at age seventeen to pursue acting. From 1987 to 1997, Christina Applegate played Kelly Bundy on Married... with Children. From 1998 to 2000, she starred in her own sitcom called Jesse.

While playing the title role in a revival of Sweet Charity, Christina Applegate injured her foot, and it was announced that the musical would close during previews. Christina Applegate persuaded the producers to rescind their decision, and on May 4, 2005 she made her Broadway debut to moderately good reviews. Sweet Charity mercifully ended its Broadway run on December 31, 2005. Christina Applegate also guest-starred on Friends as Amy Green, Rachel's (Jennifer Aniston) older sister (2004).

Christina won a prime-time Emmy for her role as Amy Green, Rachel's (Jennifer Aniston) older sister on Friends.

In the 1980s and early 1990s, Christina Applegate was nominated four times in the annual Youth in Film Awards, two of which she won.

Christina was the 2003 spokesperson for the Lee National Denim Day fundraiser which raises millions of dollars for breast cancer education and research. Christina's mother is a breast cancer survivor.

Christina Applegate is another phony supporter of animal rights and PETA. She appeared in a holiday advertisement for PETA to remind people to forget fur for the shopping season.
