America Ferrera (Born April 18, 1984) is an American actress.

Biography

 

America Ferrera was born in Los Angeles, California to Honduran parents and was raised by her mother in San Fernando Valley. She started acting at age eight at the local theater and in school plays. In 2002 she made her film debut in Real Women Have Curves. She won best actress at the Sundance Festival that year for her role. She has continued to land roles in both television (such as Touched by an Angel) and film (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Lords of Dogtown). In 2006, she landed the lead role in Ugly Betty, an upcoming comedy-drama series for ABC, which will debut in the fall of 2006. The show is an adaptation of the Colombian hit telenovela Betty La Fea.

America Ferrera currently attends the University of Southern California where she's double-majoring in Theater and International Relations.
